Creating a barrier between your lawn and your neighbor's is an excellent way to check weed invasion, says Agustina. She recommends utilizing deep edging, which burrows 4 to 6 inches beneath the soil surface acting as a shield against the roots of encroaching weeds. This barrier can be constructed using materials like metal, vinyl, or concrete which are great at maintaining separation without appearing unnecessarily hostile. "For lawns already grappling with persistent foes, a narrow trench filled with mulch or gravel can be dug along the property line, creating an inhospitable environment for both lawn grass and weeds, thereby halting further spread," Agustina advises.

Planting fast-growing, pervasive ground cover varieties is an effective tactic to create a buffer against invaders from your neighbor's territory along your property line. "Plants like liriope, pachysandra, and dense shrubs are typically too tough for weeds to overrun," explains Agustina. "This strategy not only deters unwanted plants but also enhances your garden aesthetics."

A healthy, lush lawn serves as the best line of defense against a weed invasion. "Grass that is in a healthy state with deep roots naturally limits weeds," inshrines Agustina. "Ensure this by focusing on adequate watering, regular fertilization and maintaining an ideal grass height-usually around 3 inches for most varieties."

Bare patches provide an opportunity for weeds to exploit, hence they can be countered by overseeding to prevent the weeds from capitalizing on these weak areas.

To provide an extra level of defense, mulching can assist in suffocating the weeds and stopping further spread. "Applying 3 to 4 inches of quality mulch in a band along your border will deprive the weed seeds of the light required for germination, while simultaneously creating a neat visual boundary," points out Agustina.

To maintain effectiveness, it is advisable to refresh mulch on your lawn or garden annually. This helps in sustaining its effectiveness in preventing weed spread and adds charm to your yard.

"Communicating your worries about weeds to your neighbor might prove helpful.
